Goodbye comrade Parvati!

In a great hall full of comrades concluded on the 18th December night
the short but intense visit of Hisila Yami, comrade Parvati, at Rome,
who was invited by the Revolutionary Proletarian Feminist Movement
(MFPR).

The meeting has been introduced by the MFPR, and thereafter followed
by the different salutes of the promoters of the meeting: Proletari
Comunisti, Partito dei Carc, Rete dei Comunisti, and each of them,
through own words has defined the historical moment of this visit in
Italy.

A Philippine woman comrade has then given her salute, but has also
made a call to Italian communists and anti imperialists to do much
more to support people’s wars and the extraordinary experiences going
on in Asia, so as to do more in strengthening the ties and support
with the communities of immigrates in Italy; she has also underscored
the importance of unity of the Italian and immigrates women in the
fight for women’s rights.

Then comrade Parvati spoke: she has recounted of the nowadays
situation in Nepal, enlightening the strategy and tactic of the
Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) during ten years of people’s war,
guiding the mass movement, in the use of the peace accords and of
their participation in the government to serve the advancing of
people’s cause and of Federal Republic in Nepal, a stage of the
revolution of new democracy.

The final part of her speech that has been followed with attention
and enthusiasm regarded the women’s role, combining examples and
party line.

Through this speech in the hall materialized the extraordinary
participation of the women and the fact that in this phase a relevant
part of the crash between revolution and counterrevolution goes
through women’s role, the most oppressed of all oppressed, and of
minority groups in Nepal.

At this point a long series of questions by comrades of promoting
forces, but also from other comrades, intellectuals, researchers,
militants which touched all possible arguments: globalisation,
relations between Nepal and India, socialism of 21st century and
naturally all the different aspects of women’s condition in Nepal and
in the imperialist countries.

In this case the importance of comrade Parvati’s response lies in the
fact that she has based on a strong Marxist analysis the women’s
question, reporting to it all the aspects, from sexual violence to
that of children, but underlining the importance of assumption of
gender contradiction as dialectical and enriching aspect of class
contradiction.

She then spoke about her recent experience as Maoist minister,
obstructed and opposed because she is a woman, but at the same time,
sustained by the great women’s mass movement.

A larger report, of this debate will be publicised in short by the
MFPR.

But the meeting has been only the culmination point of this visit.
Rich, interesting and absorbing have been also the long interviews
given to Radio Città Aperta and two newspapers Il Manifesto and
Liberazione, edited on the 19th December; so as the meetings with
MFPR and the other promoting forces; the comrade has been very
interested and precise in the effort to understand also the
differences and the Italian situation and communist movement in an
imperialist country.

The sympathy of the comrade showed also in other moments of her
visit, and also in this case the ties with the Italian comrades have
been consolidated contributing to the historic significance of this
visit.

Comrade Parvati’s tour has touched till now Norway, Sweden, France,
and now it will follow Germany.

Good by comrade Parvati!
