The 6th Regional Conference of the Maoist Parties and Organisations of South Asia United in the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement was recently convened in a situation, where, both in South Asia and the world, the opportunities as well as challenges before the Maoist forces are greatly heightened in the context of the emerging new wave of world revolution and the counter-revolutiona ry offensive led by US imperialism, the main enemy of the peoples of the world. This is particularly seen in Nepal where the new democratic revolution led by the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has entered a decisive level. (more…)

KATHMANDU, Feb 13 - Maoist Chairman Prachanda on Tuesday warned that a democratic republic set up would be announced by mid-May if elections to the constituent assembly were not held by mid-June.
The Maoist supremo addressing a mass gathering that was attended by tens of thousands said that “regressive forces” are engaged in a “massive conspiracy” to preventing the constituent assembly elections from being held by the stipulated time. (more…)

The Maoists have decided to go for countrywide public mobilisation campaign beginning February 13.

In a jointly signed statement issued by chairman Prachanda and chief of United Revolutionary People’s Council Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, the party has decided to launch the campaign from February 13 – marking the start of People’s War in 1996. (more…)
