King Gynendra has grabbed the power on February 1, dismissing the coalition government unconstitutionally through the royal proclamation usurping the state power with the military backing. And the long struggle between absolute monarchy and democracy in Nepal has now entered in a new phase. Nepalese People, suffering from the scourge of violence and counter violence, by not only the ten years old armed conflict but from the 237 years old autocratic and anti people monarchy. Now aspiring unity, 22nd November 2005 among all democratic forces for peace, democracy and prosperity is to resolve the national problems politically on the basis of national consensus. At the moment seven parliamentary parties and the CPN (Maoist) has been reached up to 12 point understanding is a leap in this process.
Migrant Nepalese Association (India) and All India Nepalese Free Students Union (AINFSU) has organized a interactive seminar ‘Understanding between the seven political parties and Maoist to establish Peace and absolute democracy in Nepal’. Chief Guest speaker Modnath Prasrit, Standing committee member of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist) and former Education Minister said that the seven political parties have launched a nation wide movement people’s movement against the feudal autocratic monarchy. Another Speaker Chabilal Bishwakarma, central committee member of CPN (UML) call for the solidarity of all genuine democratic, progressive forces in India and from world community to accomplish the goal of absolute democratic setup in Nepal. All class, mass organizations professionals, civil society, student - youth and migrant community are also pushed into opposition by king.
Anand Swroop Verma, a senior journalist said divided political parties are coming together to fight against a monarchy is good step for future stability of Nepal. Socialist Front leader Vijay Pratap said that present king has pushed all democratic forces against him. So the whole world community is in the fever of people’s movement and their triumph is not very far. Sushil Pyakurel, former National Human Rights Commission of Nepal said that the violation of human and civil rights by Royal Nepalese Army is in high at world level and whole country stands at crossroads between the medieval and autocratic monarchy on the one hand and democratic on the other. Other speakers were Tika Ram Wagle vice president of Nepali Jan Sampark Samiti, advisor of Nepali Janadhikar Surkasha Samiti T B Pathak and Ishowari Bhattrai, convener of the Democratic movement support committee for Nepal. Program was chaired by Ramlal Kafle, chairperson of Pravashi Nepali Sangh (India) and conducted by AINFSU chairperson Deepak Prakash Bhatt. Khemchandra Dhakal, Tek Bahadur Kc, Khageswar Kafley and Purnakala Bhattarai were participant as guest in this program.
