NEW DELHI, Dec 18 - A month after the rebel Maoists
Reached a 12-point understanding with mainstream
Political parties to end nearly ten-year-old
Insurgency, Nepali multiparty exercises for the
Restoration of peace and full democracy continue in
neighbouring India.
That understanding was hammered out on Nov 17 at a
clandestine meeting in New Delhi by leaders of the CPN
(Maoist) and the seven-party alliance. A
month on,
multiparty leaders are working to disseminate the
“Essence of that preliminary understanding” amongst
the exiled Nepali masses around India.
On Sunday, Delhi played host to a public interaction
programme which was addressed by leaders of various
Political parties while the western coastal city of
Mumbai saw thousands of exiled Nepali (Pravashi
Nepalis) rally thorough the streets, chanting slogans
And demanding end to autocracy and restoration of full
Democracy.
“We have finally arrived at the right place to fight
Autocratic monarchy,” said chief gest of this progremm UML leader Modnath
Prashrit, speaking at an interaction programme on the issue “The role of 12-point agreement reached between the seven political parties and the
Maoist for peace and democracy” Organized by UML’s Pravashi wing, Pravashi Nepali
Sangh (Bharat) and All India Nepalese Free Student Union. Now it’s the time for all the political forces
To work towards a new constitution, he said, adding,
“Cultural, economic and educational revolutions
have
Never happened in Nepal.”
And he blamed that for the massive exodus of the
Nepali economic migrants into India – a
trend
Exacerbated by the insurgency and insecurity in the
Hills and plains of Nepal.
The interaction, attended by migrant Nepali
workers,
Was also addressed by UML leader Chhabilal Biswokarma,
former National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) member
Shushil Pyakurel, NC-affiliated Nepali Janasamparka
Samiti representative Tikaram Wagle, Maoist-affiliated
Nepali Janadhikar Surakshya Samiti (NJSS) leader T.B.
Pathak, Jana Morcha Nepal leader Ishwori Bhattarai,
Pravashi Nepali Sangh leader Ramlal Kafle, Khemchandra Dhakal, Tekbahadur Kc and Khageswar Kafley and India’s
Socialist leaders Vijay Pratap and Anand Swarup Verma. This intrection programme was prisedised by Ramlal Kafey and annonced by Deepak Prakash Bhatta, the president of AINFSU
